Call for Emergency Passport interviewWhich ever service you choose you will need to set up an appointment first and you can do this by calling the Passport Advice line on 0300 222 0000. Lines are open between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 am and 5.30 pm on weekends and public holidays.

Now even though you can pay an extra fee for the Premium One-Day Service, in reality, how quick you get your passport depends largely on how quick you get your appointment.

These times can vary depending on what time of year it is. For obvious reasons during the summer months the demand for appointments for an emergency passport is a lot higher.

We strongly recommend that you do not spend your cash on travel arrangements until you have your new UK passport.

What you must bring to the appointment:

  • A correctly filled out UK passport application form
  • Two identical passport photos
  • Birth certificate
  • Any other supporting documents (depending on your application)

The Fast Track One Week Service: – £103.00

With this service the Identity and Passport Service guarantees you will have your emergency passport in your hands within a week from the date of your appointment. This is assuming of course all of your documents are in order.

This service is not available for a first adult passport

The Premium one-day service: – £128.00

With this service Her Majesty’s Passport Office guarantees you can deliver your application and collect your passport on the same day. Once again, assuming all of your documents are in order and your application is straight forward.

To qualify, your appointment must be on a week day and before:

  • 12.00 noon in Belfast and Durham
  • 12.30 pm in Glasgow and Newport
  • 1.00 pm in Peterborough
  • 1.30 pm in Liverpool
  • 4.00 pm in London

And on Saturdays for appointments before 11.00 am in all Regional Passport Offices.

You cannot use the service for:

  • replacing a lost, stolen or damaged passport
  • a first adult or first child passport
  • extending a limited passport
  • making several or complex changes to your existing UK passport

If you can’t attend your appointment or collect your emergency passport:

If you’re unable to attend the appointment or collect your British passport yourself, you can ask someone else to do it for you but you must be in the UK at the time. Whoever you send in your place they must bring the following:

  • your completed application form and supporting documents
  • evidence of their identity, like their passport or driving licence
  • a signed letter from you giving them permission to submit the application on your behalf
  • another signed letter from you, giving them permission to collect your British passport

Take your time when filling out the passport application form.

If it’s filled out incorrectly or your supporting documents aren’t in order then you’ll have to go
through the whole process again including making another appointment.
